CNN International news channel visited Helsinki in January and made four episodes for the Future Cities series. In February CNN came back, this time it was the channel’s environmental show that made a programme about sustainable living.

Did you know that Helsinki is about to become a huge construction site for one of the largest urban development projects in the whole of Europe? Were you aware of the fact that Helsinki has launched the first underground master plan in the world for a city? CNN takes a look at these and other topics in four episodes of Future Cities.

In February Earth’s Frontier took a look at sustainable living. In the programme British architect and TV presenter Charlie Luxton took us for a tour in Eco Viikki ecological housing district in Helsinki and showed us a house using very low amounts of energy. Luxton visited Aalto University where the students have designed the Luukku house - a very unique energy saving house completely made of wood.
