The general lighting plan will create the basis for the detailed lighting plans needed for implementing the lighting of the area in the future. The plan should focus on the design of the Kruunuvuorenranta western shore that is seen from a distance (city center, islands, sea area).
The intention is to make Kruunuvuorenranta a district with a coherent lighting design that is both nationally and internationally unique. It will be possible to view the lighting near and from a distance and it will also enable other light art and illuminated events. New innovative and ecological lighting and lighting control methods will be favored in designing the lighting for Kruunuvuorenranta.
The competition will be announced in December 2011 according to the notification procedure of public procurements. The competition will be launched in the beginning of 2012 and the results will be published in autumn 2012.
Based on the references introduced in the notification procedure 4 design teams will be selected to participate the competition. City of Helsinki is the responsible organizer of the competition. Among the jury members there will be representatives of City administrations and professional experts. The competition belongs to the World Design Capital 2012 -program.
